Alternator Reassembly
Has anyone taken apart their alternators? I'm having a hell of a time trying to push the brushes down while getting the the rotor's shaft back into the housing. Is there a trick way to do this? I figureI can polish the outside while it's all apart, but I'd be nice to have an alternator again..

Alternator Reassembly
Still having a hard time putting this alternator back together. Is it a matter of removing the rear bearing and using it to push in the brushes. Then putting the shaft and rotor back in the case, or do I need to remove everything including the rotor from the shaft and reassemble as in the diagram? Any advice would be much apreciated..

Alternator
If it is simliar to my "85" there is a small hole in the back of the alternator just under the center were the bearing goes into. Slide a paper clip into the hole (from the back) to hold the brushes up out of the way when assembling the bearing in their place then remove the paper clip.
