Alternator bearing

Alternator bearing
My alternator developed a nasty squeaking sound the other day and I suspect it's the bearing. No amount of belt tension or lack thereof seems to cure the problem. I see that that the replacement bearing is only around $15 so I'm thinking of replacing it myself, but I've never dug inside an alternator before. Is it relatively straightforward as the exploded parts diagram suggests or should I just buy a replacement and be done with it?
Thanks!

I've had mine apart once. If I can do it, anyone can.
Even after removing the screws, the aluminum housings on mine were still press-fit on pretty tight. A dead-blow hammer is helpful to 'gently' coerce them off and on. If your careful not to pull the armature out, I don't think you'll have to pin back the brushs.
