Altered Miata Oil Pressure Sender

Has anyone looked at this...

http://www.miata.net/garage/opg2.html

Is it a good alternative to the crappy FD oil pressure sender that fails every three years or so?

The pressure sender lets you know there is pressure in the oil system, not that there is no oil in the pan. The level sending unit is in the side of the oil pan.
