For all Profec B owners..
I was wondering what all you guys have your boost controller set to? I have the Profec B and obviously i want the best setting for power gains , without messing up my engine too bad. I have 3mm seals with a streetport.

Here's a pic of my interior:
RotorMotorrx7: I wouldn't touch the boost--if you don't have the fuel mods, I'd leave it where it's at.
The main benefits of the profec are less boost spiking and keeping the boost under control, not lowering it.
Also, when it rains out, I turn the profec off which (*if* your seq. system is operating as it should) yields a nice safe 7 psi.
Happy Trails to you...

the only bad thing i noticed with my profec B is that it tends to over boost if its a cold night. for example, i have my low boost set at 11 psi and it goes up to 13 or 14 sometimes if the weather is cold, without moving the ****.

low boost 11 at 12 o'clock position
hight boost ~13 at 10 o'clock position
12 o'clok on the balance.
Anyone else overboost with their Profec? People I have asked here have not.
Thanks

i know 3 or 4 people that have the same problem as mine, sometimes changing the sharp/soft **** helps, but most of the time it'll hold 11 psi (low boost) and then it'll jump to 13 or 14 if i'm at the top of 3rd at WOT or in 4th.

could you guys put into your own words what the soft/sharp **** will do, and what the settings are o the back of your profec-b, with factory sequential turbos...

I've never had a problem with my profec B. I've used it when the car was sequential, non-sequential and now with a single. Simple, easy to use...and the remote switch is awesome.

Put it all the way to sharp and jam it WOT. Do this with someone who has never been in your car. Offer them a diaper! Um, My Profec installation guide is in japanese. I dunno if that's normal but it's niot exactly a great help to me.....whats the diff between lwo boost and high boost and how can you tell what it's set to based on the white dots?

Had my Profec B for about a week and it's pretty much the best one I've used. I had a AVCR and it was a pain in the ***. Just too many goddamm features that I would never use.
Low Boost 10psi
High Boost 14 psi
T78 with Haltec.
Do you guys think that raising my sharp **** would make me spool quicker?

low boost/high boost are just 2 options. i have my low set to 10 and high set to 14. If u turn the unit off, it will hold at 7. never had a creep problem (even after putting on the midpipe). As already mentioned, the "sharpness" **** does allow for a faster spool up. most people seem to keep it about a 1/4 turn off max sharp.
i used to have mine mounted under the steering column where the air vent is, but moved it to under the stereo behind the cover. at least there i can see if i'm on high or low -

which might give some insight as to what the 'sharp' function does - which I take it that it eliminates/reduces the slight bleed (when turned towards 'sharp') that occurs at the wastegate when controled by the stock ecu/solenoid.
So, with all the huffing and puffing of the turbo not seeping out of the wastegate, this is probably beneficial (turbo does not work as hard maybe?) I imagine the bleed was designed for a more linear throttle response for those with less driving skills/etc.
I can see a sharper boost reponse being somewhat more problematic under slippery conditions, or when finessing ones way around a race track hehe.

It is a spring loaded pressure valve that does no bleed off boost pressure until the pressure exceeds the adjusted pressure. It's main purpose was not to control boost (which it can by itself) but to help spoolup by not bleeding off boost until needed. The stock ecu and solenoid control is always bleeding off boost at some cyclic rate.
EVEN WITH IT, YOU WILL STILL HAVE BOOST CHANGES DUE TO TEMP CHANGES.
Unfortunately they industry does not make a boost controller that monitors the map sensor voltage with feedback control to regulate boost at a constant selected level. Such a system would keep boost constant no matter the temperature variations. This neglect by the performance companies has pissed me off for years. You would make "learning" runs which the unit would remember the map sensor voltage. When you reach your desired boost level, this voltage would be permanently saved as the desired voltage. Then the unit compares your actual voltage to saved voltage and either close sor opens the WG to maintane this value. This type of feedback control circuit is so F*** common, that it is a crime that boost controllers do not use it. Instead they are based on using a memorized solenoid duty cycle rate.
If any one knows of such as controller, let us know.

anyone ever mount the controller in the driver side door pocket? I've seen a turbo timer mounted there and i figure they are about the same size, i don't really need to see it while i'm driving, i already ahve a power FC and boost gauge for monitoring boost, i just wnat to be able to reach it from the driver seat. How hard woudl the wiring be if mounted in the door? any thoughts??
