TO all FD owners with B&M short shifters

I have searched the archives but wanted a more "scientific" poll regarding the rattling on the short shifters........

I am looking at the Mazdaspeed, C's and B&M....

VERY informative. It got me to drive down to them (granted it was only 10 miles) and buy theirs. No rattles.

I have a B&M and it doesn't rattle at all, I have a small piece of thick dynamat that I cut a hole in the center of, that keeps the tranny noise to almost nothing.. but the shifter has never once rattled on me. WELL worth the $180 or whatever it is from Summit.

woooo

that's a good page....

but I was trying to see if indeed the B&M made any difference at all or just followed the 1 out of three rule....

or worse......

say everyone in the pole has a rattle then either the shifter is slightly suspectable or everyones car, that is 3rd gens, makes it "car specific......

No problem..

That was an interesting link btw, learn something new everyday! Seriously though, there is no reason to spend $300+ on a short shifter IMO (mazdaspeed, c's etc.). The B&M is very high quality and made a big difference in the feel of the shifter.

I had one small problem with mine, if you wanna call it a problem.... had to cut out a bit of sheetmetal in the front right corner for it to fit properly. It's never seen, so it made no difference to me. Overall, I am impressed by the shifter. I've driven in a car w/ the Mazdaspeed one and it was sweet, but not worth double the $. I have the Razo 400 ****, weighs 400 grams, great feel, soft leather.

about the weighted ****

I had heard that that seems to make a difference,

However, I never really heard of anyone with the mazdaspeed saying there's EVER rattled at all regardless of what kind of **** that was on the shifter.....

True or no????

I voted that mine never rattled but that is not completely accurate. Mine only quit rattling after I replaced the bushing that is at the bottom of the shifter. It was cracked when I pulled it off the stock shifter and therefore needed to be replaced but it took Mazda a week to get it shipped to the dealership.

So it did rattle initially but only because of a cracked bushing.
