Alex with a C-west kit Where are you?

I'm Looking for a guy by the name of Alex. I dont have his last name but he sold me a Red FD hood back in 2001. He drove to my house in NY and dropped off the hood while I was at work. I need his VIN# from the FD that the hood came from to pass state inspection. If anyone knows Alex he's a show car guy in alot of shows along the east coast. I believe he has a carbon fiber hood now with a C-west body kit. I believe he is of Filipino decent. Please have him get intouch with me I really need this Vin# from him. I posted in the NE section but just made a post here to get the message out I need his help ASAP..

How the heck does your state require matching VIN# on hoods or require knowing the VIN# all of the parts on your car came off of? Can change the seats from tan to red without getting the VIN# of the car the seats were pulled from?

Well my situation is different. I have a salaved FD which i put back together in a 2yr project. So there for inorder to re-register my car in NY I need to go thru a serious State inspection where they need ALL receipts for everything. Major parts ie: hood, I need the VIN# from which the hood came from.

Ok, I'm curious, what happens if you never find this person again?

You might consider this and look for an alternative. You might be better off getting a quote from a dealer and "turning" that into your receipt if there is "absolutely no way" of getting around that problem.

Or perhaps maybe finding a friend with a FD and getting them to let you "borrow" their vin #...

Or is there any way to say "The hood wasn't messed up that bad so I fixed it" or anything of the sort?

Where are there #'s on the hood? I have been looking now for a few minutes and don't see them.

Why not just say it is aftermarket? Or gewt an Aftermarket hood instead if it is that big of a pain.
I have never heard of this, and we have some wierd salvage laws in Hawaii. Intresting to know though. So again, where are the #'s on the hood you are refferring to.?

Are you talking about the little BAR code and #'s on the Emission's technical sticker? If so I am now curious to see if they can run that # and put it to the year and car matching the emission's #

If so maybe give Ray Crowe a call and see if he (or another local Mazda dealer) can run the #'s and give you a matching VIN to use. Just a thought.

Just FYI, none of the numbers on my hood refer to anything as an ID number for anything. The only numbers I found on my hood are the normal mechanic's cheat sheets.

Can't be. "Nguyen" is a Vietnamese surname, NOT Filipino. All Asians look alike, eh?

Jxy nyc: Tell the inspectors that the car was involved in a front end collision and the original hood was replaced. Just a thought...

i don't think the inspectors need a reciept i had a salvage integra all they did was run the vin# to see if the parts came off a stolen car or not..
