Alarm/engine/electical problem?

I have searched this entire site and found nothing that could help me with this. It is crazy

Tonight I was driving my car, then I noticed my headlights turned off. As soon as I realized this they came back on. Then all of a sudden my car turned off. I thought that it was weird, let me turn it back on. NOTHING. When I turned my key back the alarm went off. When I turned the key forward again, the alarm turned off, but nothing came on. No accessories, NOTHING. So I pushed my car out of the road and into a gas station parking lot. Again I try to restart it, NOTHING. I wait a few mins and turn the key back and the alarm goes off again. I turn the key forward and the alarm turns off, but NOTHING comes on. I wait a few mins, and I finally get the map light to turn on, I get excited and try to turn my car on, and again nothing happens. Not cranking, nothing at all. None of the accessories would come on. And every time I turned the key back the alarm would go off. And when I would take the key out, the alarm would just stay on. I would use the remote to lock the doors and they would try to lock, but they sounded like they were underpowered and I kept hearing a clicking sound coming from the engine bay. ANY ideas at all? i.e. alarm? turbo timer?

The only way to reset the alarm is to put the key in the drivers dorr and lock it then unlock it. If the alarm was triggered and went all the way into (IIRC) second stage of the alarm where it disables the starter and the ignition or fuel (can't remember) then you would have these issues. If you have keyless entry and the factory alam wasn't disabled (or something wasn't installed right when you open the door with the remote it's going to trigger the factory alarm into thinking the car was broken into. I don't know if this is much help but the main thing is to reset he alarm by putting the key in the drivers door and locking it then unlocking it with the key.

I would take out the alarm... especially if its aftermarket. Then try it again... it may be the alarm shorting out on some wire or something. I had a similar problem as well before and the solution that I did was I changed the alarm...and the problem stoped.

UPDATE: I went underneath the dash and pulled the alarm brain out of the car. I then jumped the RX7 with my other car and she came right on. I let the RX7 sit for a min to see if the alternator would charge it back up. I let is sit for a about 5mins shut it down then tried to restart it. Nothing. I took the battery (optima yellow top) to have it charged. It would not hold a charge. So now I am looking for a new battery since no one has the yellow top in stock. After I get a new battery, I will replace with alarm with something else, that hopefully works out better. Thanks for the help guys.

If the alarm was up under the dash (and not in the drivers kick panel) then it's not the factory alarm and the other post doesn't apply to your situation. Good luck with the issue.
