Pondering the rotary
Recently I have had two thoughts come up in my mind. 1) Why does it seem that more often than not, the rear rotor is the one that blows? and 2) hypotheticaly, what ways could the most reliable rotary be built? Well I ansewered those two thoughts with, 1) maybe because the coolant flows from front to back thus the rear rotor runs hotter thanks to the coolant being pre-heated by the front. and 2) if i set the boost at zero psi, would that not make the engine the most reliable? if there is zero vaccuum pulling the seals and zero boost pushing on them, wouldn't that equate to the least stress on the engine? Any way just thought to be dicussed and correct me if anything I said is wrong.
first up, zero boost is a waste of time... no torque, no acceleration... boring as ****.
on deceleration fuel is cut to the rear rotor, this combined with the coolant and oil flow (meaning the rear runs hotter) craps out the rear rotor first.

i've also heard that the LIM flows less air to the rear rotor, causing it to run leaner than the front rotor, and inducing detonation. I think that is why some people are experimenting with the Ground Zero LIM.
less air would make it run richer, not leaner. I think it has something to do with heat, I forget. Do a search on it and you'll find out.
And you cant set your boost gauge to 0 boost. With the wastegate all the way open you'll still make 7psi. The only reliable rotary is an NA one. Give up. Its a race engine. Enjoy it for what it does. Thats why these things are so crazy cheap and easy to work on - they break. Its part of the complete 3rd gen package.
