Airbag Computer

Hey guys,

My airbag light has been flashing for sometime in a sequence of 9, but have recently replaced my steering wheel so now don't have an airbag. I've searched and found that by disconnecting the airbag computer will eliminate any buzzing noises... but will it eliminate the flashing? Could someone point me in the right direction to it's location (my fd is RHD) and what I need to disconnect please.

Thanks in advance,

Dennis

The Diagnostic Module is located under the dash on the left side of the tranny tunnel to the right of the steering wheel. You can't miss it, it should have a big yellow sticker shouting all kinds of warnings at you. Since you are RHD, you probably have to swap this description around mirror image to the right.

Even with it removed, you may need to remove the bulb in the warning light panel to stop the flashing or, cover it with black tape so you don't see it.

If you remove the module and don't want it, I would be interested in buying it so keep me in mind...although shipping would probably kill me.

Here is a link to a poorly done write up I did on repairing the module that shows some of the what where and why's.

place a 3 ohm resistor (at least 1/4 watt, I used 1/2 watt) across the steering wheel airbag terminals. Its hard to find a 3 ohm resistor (try radio shack) so I used 3 x 10 ohm (in parallel 10/3 = 3.3 ) Google Miata steering wheel mod's if you want pics et.al. its a common mod for racing Miata's

Might be a dumb question on my part, but have you pulled the bulb and just see if it beeps at all first? I just replaced my wheel this weekend and I got the flashing so I pulled the bulb and I have no beeping or buzzing.
