Air Temp Reads "- - -" With PFC

I'm thinking it's about time to replace it. Can't seem to find a solid source of info on what one is actually sending (or not sending) this info. From what I understand there are 3(?) different sensors for the air intake?

https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...ir+intake+temp

Is this the one that sends the info? By under the UIM is it referring to something that is actually on the UIM or just under it? If it’s actually a small black solenoid connected on the UIM near the middle with a blue(?) connection, I think I know what one they are talking about.

I thought something was funny when it would read 2C then jump to 95C. Engine must have had a fit seeing that. Much like myself. Went to - - - shortly after.

Am I headed in the right direction or am I barking up the wrong tree and need to look for something else misbehaving?

It's the one under the UIM. It is possible that the connection is loose or slightly corroded. Pull it and plug it back in and see if that gets your reading back. The sensor usually doesn't go bad.

Sensor is bad

You Air Intake Sensor is most likely bad. I had that same issue fopr six months seeing my Air temps read nothing or even show negative temps, causing my car to run overly rich. I thought I had a loose connector.

Just order a new sensor from Ray at Malloy mazda for $44 and be done with it. Once I changed it the neg temps went away.
