Question Air pump removal now the car smokes

Ok guys I did the air pump removal with the Greddy replica pulleys and for the air pump split pipes I just caped them. But now when I start the car I get a little surging idle with the seven smelling really rich and smoking out the exhaust. The car will go all the way to normal temp but remain smoking until you drive it for a while but still the rich smell remains. Also when I go to shut her off after driving the car as the turbo timer suppose to kick in as I turn the key the idle drops and shuts off. What do you guys think thanks

Sounds like you need to double check your turbo timer wiring. Although, I dont recommend using one anyways. Heat soak will hurt your engine more than just shutting it down and popping the hood. Just drive easy for the last 5 minutes before you shut her down.

As for the smoking... I am clueless there.

There's a reason they put the air pump in there... people don't like smoke and fuel coming out of their exhausts(well, that and it was required for emissions reasons). I'm surprised you didn't know this would happen before you decided to remove the air pump.

Mine smokes and smells like fuel now, but I knew what I had coming...

My air pump just gave up. Started screeching. No Greddy pulleys available in Pakistan so I juts disconnected the pump. Smells of hi octane and smokes slightly at startup. Is a bit truculent but I expected that.

I did expect the rich smell but not the smoke all the way to running temp. The smoke will stay until you drive it for some time.

Airpump provides additional air under certain conditions. Its what the split air tube is for. Most cars will not run right by simply disconnecting it. You need to tune around it.

No mine will smoke threw the whole warm up and continue until I drive it around for some time. But I should be getting my Power FC in the mail soon so it should take care of it.

so eliminating the air pump causes there to be a rich fuel smell.. can that be eliminated with the PFC?
