air pump question

my air pumps still on but the line to the cat is disconnected and pluged
this will kill the cat eventually right?
why would the last owner do this with out taking the the pump off?

If the air pump is still working there is no point in disconnecting that line.Air will still be injected into the exhaust ports and I doubt if the cat wiil die.

If the air pump is not working there is still no point in disconnecting this line unless the check valve in the line is failed--in this case it would stop exhaust gas pushing back into the ACV.Some say the cat will die but I have no experience of that.

My guess is that the person who did this stuff had no idea what he was doing.

My guess is that they didn't have the stock cat on there before and just half-*** put it back on for sale without hooking up the air pump. Just hook that bad boy back up if the air pump is working properly.
