air leak under load
ok..driving the FD the other day,put my go pedal down and heard a whooshing sound from under the bonnet! so i thought it might be the ic pipes..i checked the jubilee clips and noticed that a couple were quite loose..so after trying to tighten them to no avail i bought some new jubilee clips. After putting these new items on i thought that was definetly problem solved but it wasnt, then i noticed the stock air box lid was loose on the bottom half even though the 2 stainless screws were in.( shitty plastic clips are broken off!) I had no choice but to drill 2 small holes for 2 2" screws into the bottom half so the lid would fit tightly. anyway after doing this ,the whoosing sound is still there. Its weird really cus you cant hear a dickibird when revving the engine standing still, its only apparent when the secondary turbo kicks in and your moving.also when revving the engine from inside the engine compartment, you can feel air hitting your hand over the turbo area..is this some sort of fan in the alternator or you reckon the turbos are shot!!
thanks guys

you did not mention if you are losing boost. if you are:
after tightening all primary airflow hoseclamps....
there is a hose, approx 3 inches in dia by 3 inches long that sits on top of your aluminum Y pipe. yo will need to remove a few hoses to get at it.
remove it. inspect it for a tear. it may not be immediately apparent.
good luck,

You need to check the output port on the secondary turbo. The piping flange there may not be tightly bolted to the output port. If loose, this will cause your boost to escape and also cause a whooshing sound underhood. It is hard to see because the input piping from the airbox lays over top of the output piping (the back half of the Y-pipe, in otherwords).
