Air Control Valve Removal
I have been struggling with the "right" way to remove my ACV now that I have the Pineapple Racing Idler pulley installed to remove the air pump, and now that I have Banzai's block off plates handy. I have searched and searched, but I always end up asking these three questions to myself below.
( I have a PFC so I know it will ignore codes, but I am the **** FD owner who wants to do it right)
1: There are Soleniods attached to the ACV. I have read 330 ohm resistors with a little RTV will keep codes from firing back to ECU's. I know with the PFC I won't see this, but again I want to do this right. Is this the best way to handle the three attached soleniod to the ACV if you were being thorough.
2: There is an actuator that is vacuum controlled on the end of the ACV, do I simply place a Nipple on the rats nest nozzle and zip tie it when I remove this ACV?
3: There is a soleniod attached to a bracket on the ACV. Would the best place to relocate this solenoid be to a fabbed bracket that I can hang off the bolt for my Block off Plate?
Any tips or tricks would be helpful. Again I am doing this very thoroughly, so please don't respond with a "who cares" if there are codes etc, because I will.

If you are using the PFC, completely remove the solenoids which control the ACV when removing the ACV. Remove the vacuum lines. Tuck the harness connectors under the secondary fuel rail.

Thanks Mahjik. Should I place the resistors in the harness connectors like I stated and block off the vacuum line with a Nipple?
Is the Solenoid bolted onto the ACV (has two Vacuum hoses going into it) part of the ACV or is it part of the turbo control?

No reason at all to use the resistors. I wouldn't, and I'm probably as **** if not more about this kind of stuff than you

When you install the blockoff plate, do so with a new gasket. The gaskets are metal and don't need RTV. With a blockoff plate, you want to install it ONCE and have a leak-free install.
Speaking of, I have a couple of spare new ACV gaskets if you need one, I'll hook you up.
The solenoid that's bolted to the front of the ACV is part of the turbo control system. You'll need to find a new home for it, or maybe make a small L-bracket that attaches to the ACV plate bolt to hold it in place.

Awesome Dale! That is what I needed. What do you want for the gasket, I'll take one as i have replaced the ones on the AWS and the AWS piping already with the BOP. On the Vac hose, do i simply plug the other end with a nipple?

I just finished my rebuild and installed my blocking plates... I'm gonna throw in my 2 cents.
First rtv is good to go, next go to the FAQ sticky and look up the vaccum diagrams (sorry im having trouble posting the link)... There is one for semplified sequential... It removes all the soleinoides and vaccum lines you don't need... Once you do that there is no need to block off the nipples because everything will be sealed within the soleinoides left... There is no need to put resistors on... With the PFC it's not nessicary... Good luck

Ok I think I have this now.
So when you say pull everything, you mean pull the ACV with the solenoids still installed but disconnecting them at the Solenoid Valve (Valve C from the diagram) or is it a part of the harness?.
You also mean to pull of the vacuum hose from the Solenoid valves going to the ACV as it now has no purpose. By pulling those lines the Solenoid Valve on the Rack will keep the closed loop as both solenoid valve b & c tee into the same input port to the Rats nest which leads to the UIM. ???!??

Just curious, why are you removing your ACV, what benefit is there and what consequence? I ask because I just bought a project FC that had a supposedly blown motor that I just got Sunday night and already fired up last night. For some reason the guy started taking everything apart and the ACV is gone and so I kinda wanted to know what the deal is with it.

The ACV is all about emissions. I beleive in the FC, much like the FD, it simply is a valve that opens upon specific parameters to dump air into the Cat to help with burning off the excess smog coming out the engine. When I removed my airpump I quickly realized to get rid of all of the unnecessary plumbing and what not that came along with it I should go ahead and just pull it all. I am in IL where any car pre-96 doesn't have to emissions test, so it was time to completely remove it all since I already have a PFC etc. While I was doing that I expanded my project to going full Rich Mans Non Sequential along with my radiator upgrade, my dual oil cooler addition and some new Mazda Speed bushings.
Once I get my retune set and done, I will post a thread to completely update my winter project. The pics ofthe porting and polishing and gasket matching I got on the turbos and manifold is phenominal...

I've been trying to figure out how to take the ACV out for the past hour. The bottom bolt of the right side I can't figure out how to get to. Do I need to remove the LIM to be able to get it out?
do you guys on stock PCM put resistors on all of the other plugs? i am blocking off everything i dont need, but i am in doubt if I should put resistors in all of them, i am still on the sequential set-up and will stay like that for a bit till i get my single turbo put on.
I am blocking off the following parts
-Air Control Valve
-Accellerated Warm-Up System
-Idle Speed Control
the plugs that stay on the car, do you put a resistor on them for these items?
