Constant threat
The '93 models used R-12, which is expensive and difficult to get but IS the best.
It could be that you just need to add a bit of refrigerant, but it is always best with air conditioner systems to have it checked out by a good shop to make sure there aren't any leaks. Here in the States, R-12 costs about $40 a pound....when you can find it.
Some people switch over to a refrigerant like R-134A but it is not as efficient and you need to change out your drier, drain all the oil from your compressor, and totally evacuate your old refrigerant out and then fill it back with compatible oils and refrigerant.
See if you can find a can or two of R-12. Being in Malta you might be able to get it still. There are 'black market' cans of R-12 that are made in Mexico and other 3rd world countries that are not very good stuff, so be careful what you purchase.
Good luck, let us know how it turns out.

If the refrigerant issue is not your problem, and if you recently installed a Power FC unit to upgrade the factory ECU, you may want to try the "fix" below. This post was copied from 'The Power FC A/C fix!' (https://www.rx7club.com/power-fc-forum-47/power-fc-c-fix-435420/page3/)
"The best fix so far is from Freddie Hebert.

Power-FC A/C MOD
This mod will enable your air conditioner to work when installing a Power FC in FD3s. This will also fix the problem of the a/c not working on one or more of the fan speeds.
The reason the a/c does not come on is because as the car ages, the ground signal going to the ECU’s (wire 1E) is receiving a fuzzy ground signal. Some cars have no problem with the signal, but some do; the last FD I worked on the a/c did not work on any speed. My mod will interrupt the signal going into the Power FC and redirect it through a simple Bosch relay. This will also let the Power FC still control the ISC and switch the a/c off at wide open throttle.
Locate wire 1E (Violet wire) - it is the third wire from the end on connector one. Cut the wire 2” from ECU. On the harness side you will hook 1E to (86). On terminal (85) on the relay will go to ignition +. Terminal (87) will go to 1E that was cut on the Power FC side. Terminal (30) will go straight to chassis ground. Now when your a/c is turned on, it will receive a nice healthy ground. If you have any questions contact me via email.

Take it to a shop that's familiar with AC systems. If your low on refrigerant, there might be a leak and just filling the system is temporary. I recommend staying with the R-12 but as bajaman indicated, it's a bit pricey. Make sure your system is secure and leak free before hand.
