Unhappy air con pulley replacement.!!

Could anybody give me any advice or instruction about how to replace the pulley on the air con. The old one was fucked and the bearings have melted.
I have managed to get a used replacement, but have been told that it is not just a simple case of swapping them over. I have been told that it works on a clutch mechanism, and a lot of care is needed when swapping over. in fact ,i have been told that it is easier to just replace the whole pump.
HELP[ again }

Yep, I'd replace the whole compressor. Changing out the pulley is some serious work, the shaft seal is VERY finicky and you're more likely to end up with a leaky compressor than not.

Pretty easy to do on the car without even losing a drop of refrigerant,which is higher than giraffe pu$$y right now if anyone has bought any lately(refrigerant that is).

1. Remove the bolt on the front of the pulley...think its a 10mm. and GENTLY work the clutch plate out being careful not to lose the tiny washers on the back side.
2. Remove the snap ring and note which way the beveled outer edge points.
3. Pop the outer rear edge of the pully in several places until you see it moving forward a little. Then, using 2 large screwdrivers or small prybars just wedge on the back of the pulley to push it off of the hub. *an good air hammer will do this quickly*
4. Clean the hub up, apply a few drops of oil on it and the pulley should slide on easily. Tap it lightly to seat it properly and install a new c-clip with the beveled edge pointing in the same direction as when you removed it. (if memory serves, the beveled edge faces the front of the car)
5. Install the spacers back in the hub and re-install the clutch plate. Engage the clutch a few times and check the air gap with a set of feeler guages. Install or remove spacers as needed to get the correct gap.

BTW..Also check the clutch coil b4 you start. No specs available right now, look them up in the fsm or pm me tomorrow.

Use an impact gun - that will zap it off quickly. If you don't have one, take it with you to a mechanic, tire shop, etc. - I'm sure they'd be more than happy to zap it off for you and zap it back on again.
