whil taking off the intake hoses last night...i ran into an odd hose on the right side of the intake box...it was a ~1"diameter hose that connected to a 1" diameter plastic piece, ~6" long...it didnt apparently connect to anything..just went down along the right side of the box.
nyone know what this is and if it is supposed to be like this?

Yes, I believe it vents excessive pressure from the box - like when the BOV vents...

 

Its called the "Mystery Hose". Do a search on that term.

It keeps the car from going "Moo" , "Moo". I'm not joking. When I had my stock airbox I removed my airbox without taking that hose off and the end of that hose (has a hard plastic peice) grabbed on to the hose that connects to the AST, and cracked the Nipple to the AST. I was not aware and drove my car. My coolant leaked out of my engine, I *ALMOST* overheated but was lucky I look at my water temp every few seconds. Just an FYI.

BTW..that hose should seperate into 2 peices, you can use just the small 4 inch part and it will do the same thing.
