I devised an easy method to use the fast acting GM IAT sensor in place of the stock one--simply by shunting it with with a 12K ohm resistor. (shunting means wiring in parallel) It will then track within the specifications for the stock mazda sensor. In practical application, you can use a common 10k ohm resistor with good results; especially if it is in the Greddy elbow such as mine is. Using a 10k ohm resistor in shunt will tend to make IAT read a touch warmer than it is, helping to compensate for its relocation into the elbow.

This allows peeps with a stock ecu to run the GM sensor or to use mazda sensor settings for aftermarket controllers. The GM sensor threads in using a common 3/8" pipe tap, so installing it in alternate locations could be more convenient than the OEM type for some.

I run the "dude" iat sensor with the supplied pigtail and have noticed a major difference in sensitivity (factory position). Looking forward to seeing what it does when I install my meth system.

My thoughts exactly. So apparently there's no calibration INSIDE the PFC so you have to make it at the sensor.

I pmed the "dude" and he said he had tested this sensor and right out of the box it fell within the voltage/temperature parameters the stock one did and that someone named Sandro did some testing at various temperatures and found the fast iat to be extremely close in calibrations to the stock sensor.

Does anyone know where those threads are? I couldn't find them. thanks!
