aftermarket alarm vs. oem alarm
aftermarket alarm vs. oem alarm
i'm sure most of you have problems with the oem alarm system where i'm looking into install an aftermarket one... does the oem alarm system need to be disconnected prior to installing any aftermarket alarm? any recommendation or suggestions are welcome...
I think the aftermarket alarm over rides the stock one but don't quote me on that.
I had the Viper 791vx (I'm guessing on the model number it's something like that) installed on my RX-8 when I had it. I got all the modules, remote start, one touch automatic roll down, automatic lock, backup alarm, the whole 9 yards. Was a great alarm, had a pager and all. Make sure you get it installed right though. The guy who installed mine didn't do it right and I couldn't start my car because of automatic kill. The installer had to come to my house and work on the car that night. Thing that's strange is that was the night that I totaled my 8 and basically almost died. But that has nothing to do with the alarm lol

If You Have Power Do Locks And Wire Them Up To The After Markit Alarm You Should Be Find The After Markit Will Disarm The Factory Alarm When The Door Unlocks ..it All Depends On Who Puts Your Alarm In If They Know What They Are Doing...if You Want A Wireing Diegram Pm Me With A Fax Number And Year Of Car ...
I had trouble with my factory alarm after i switched out my driver's side door lock. It had seized up and to replace it i cut a couple of wires that went to it, causing the alarm to go off every time the door was opened or something like that. Drove me crazy but i finally found a permanent fix. Since your factory alarm won't go off if your hood is up, if you take off the hood latch, find the wires that go to a switch in the mechanism, clip and attach them to each other in some manner, and reinstall the latch you'll never have to worry about the stock alarm again. Been there, done that, and it works like a charm. I spent a very frustrating week of disconnecting the battery every time i left the car before i was able to figure it out...
