after-market cooling fans for FD

Hey guys;
Was wondering if anyone has used the Custom Street Designs
"SPAL dual cooling fan (pull) 11" kit. One of my fans crapped out
and am re-installing the a/c. I have eliminated wiring, relays and
such. Don't know if these from "CSD" are straight bolt-on or an
after-market headache? Thanks for any input.

In my experiences the stock fans work very well. One thing you can do is change out the 5 bladed fan for a 4 bladed one. Mazda used 2 different fans in an effort to cancel out any harmonic resonance. The 4 bladed fan moves more air.

Thanks guys, I'll check Mazda for a replacement tommorrow. I'll also do a search on
flex-a-lite. BTW, the kit I was referring to was $ 235.00. and a J-spec guy quoted
$150.00 for a complete set off a 95'. FYI

back when I owned a 240 with an SR20DET a while back, a whole lot of people were having problems with the engines overheating. There was a bunch of speculation going back and forth as to "Use this fan it works for me" and so on and so on without any hard numbers to back it up. Realizing that a fan and radiator combo that works for somebody in Oregon will not work the same for somebody in south central Texas, my fellow Mechanical Engineering car nuts and I got together with a representative from C&R Racing to test radiators and fans. Hopefully you can see in the data that not all fans are built alike and some flow MUCH better than others. Enjoy.... http://home.satx.rr.com/nissanweb/RadTest/RadTest.htm

I just bought a set of 99spec fans, and I am wondering how much a benefit they will have over the set on my 93

Thanks....would love to do something of the sort for the FD but just don't have any money or the datalogger anymore. It's also considerably harder to pull off on the FD as it was only taking us 30 minutes from roll-in to roll-out to swap radiators. Hell, it takes 30 minutes just to get the damn OEM hose clamps back on the FD intake box!!

Oh yeah....I have to tell ya, those fckn SPAL fans are awesome. I mean absolutely awesome. Get the highest flowing one you can get and call it a day. The things really are great and were clearly the best of the best we tested.
