Question Affording an FD

I read the "How old are FD owners" thread, and i noticed that most of the owners are >25 yrs old, and a number being 16-18...

How the heck did you pay for your FD?
I'm 16, and all I could afford was an '84 FB (Not that I'm complaining )

Don't take this the wrong way, but do you have like super-rich parents that paid for it?

Every day I love the FD more and more, and get the feeling like i NEED one to live and I'm willing to do anything (legal) I can to buy one
any ideas?

I'm starting the "FD for Adam" Fund today

It's not that hard guys in this day and age, Just gotta think ahead with your finances and invest responsibly and o yeah, start that roth IRA sooner than later so that you capitalize on the interest 10 years from now. Nothing to it. Also working at a stable job has its benefits. Many college jobs pay full time for part-time work. It's great .

I guess most teens have their parents help out on some part of the FD expense (insurance, pmt or downpay, repair, maint). It's a lot of money indeed.

I wouldn't dream of owning an FD if I were a teen. However, I think those lucky kids do appreciate what they have so that's all good. I hate spoiled rats that drive bimmer that don't even know the value of money and have never worked a single job in their worthless life. Oh yeah, I am bitter!

Or you can get a loan? If you have good credit etc, you can go and get a 5-year loan for some wierd interest rate etc.

I'm 23 and I just got my '94 Touring quite recently. I'm working 3 jobs and I'm still living paycheck to paycheck after payments, insurance, gas, and maintainence. I've given up all the luxuries of my social lifestyle and have signed up for a life of poverty for the next 3-5 years. But I knew what I was getting into before getting the car and I still think it's worth all the sacrifices.

For me I think it the initial costs of owning the car that's high. Because I'm not the first owner I have to "clean-up" the messes left by the previous owners. Then again I'd rather spend more money and be able to drive the car knowing that everythings in working order. I'm sure in another year or so when I've paid off some of my debt (and when I've gotten used to living the life of a hermit) things will get easier. Or at least that's my fantasy.

I'm 18 will be 19 the 25th of this month
I got my FD a couple weeks ago
Without having another car before the FD to sell or trade in it's hard to just get 15K saved up.
I had another car to get money from and I'm working the entire summer ~40 hours a week to save up more money

It's really hard waiting and I was going crazy once I decided I wanted one I had to have it
I can't imagine if I didn't have one right now and all I had to wait was 4 months after I started looking.

Good luck to all of you I'm just glad that I have one hahahahhaha!
Just kidding seriously good luck and remember that all you need is money for this and if you don't have money or enough of it you are going to struggle to get a FD but even then if you try hard enough you may be able to find one that you can afford.
If you want it bad enough you will get it

good luck to all of you

There was a thread on this a little while ago... you might want to refer back to that before another "brawl" ensues...

Actually I'm 16 going on 17 and paid for it myself with a little advance by my parents. I work for my dad and mom at their business doing odd jobs. I'm a handy man I guess. Me and my buds work for a wresteling coach who has us mow lawns and landscape. He pays us well and I get a check almost every other day.
