AEM Ignition Amplifier ?'s
I was browsing and found the AEM IA at rx7store.net. It says its an amplifier and I'm a bit confused what that means. Im curious if anyone has installed this and what the results were. I have searched and found a few threads but it seems not much info available.
Im curious mostly what is involved in the install. Does it plug and play into a harness or is it more involved? What does it mean 4 channel or 8 channel?
Lastly...I suspect I have a problem with my leading coil as I have problems accelerating in mid/high RPM under boost conditions sometimes. While I know the solution should be to have the primary coil replaced, since this is an ignition amplifier, can it fix this type of problem?
thanks for any help.

Garfinkle has one ,the car starts alittle better and the idle is smoother . The for channel unit runs all three coils. He runs stock trailling coils and a Harley Davidson Crane leading coil . A sub harness was made using GM weather pac connectors , as he always uses . The unit is living on a bracket below the master cylinder .The four channel will run 4 coils the 8 channel will run 8 coils. The directions also had a page for 10 cylinder motors . That is about all I remember about it ,hope that helps .

fart on a friends head!!!
never try to band-aid a problem. always fix the real problem. . . THEN, and only then move on to the upgrade. if you are fixing the problem with an upgraded part via replacement then rock on. . . but an amplifier will not fix your coil problem. itll only burn it up sooner if it is already hurting. replace the coil with a 2nd gen coil (virtually indestructible) and have some fun.
