AEM EMS Good or Not so good??? Please don't move mods:)
Please don't move this I know it is the wrong forum but no one ever looks at the AEM forum.
What does everybody think of the AEM EMS?? I have heard there are some problems tuning the RX7, but don't you think the kinks will be worked out soon? I am getting ready to buy an ecu and it looks like the AEM is a more advanced system than they PFC. I guess it is harder to tune for a beginner, but has much more control over the engine when you can get it tuned right.
AEM EMS Good or Wait a year and see????

I don't see how much more control of the engine you need than what the PFC+datalogit combo provides.
The problem with the AEM is there is no real knowledge base for them. The base map that comes with the AEM is apparently not usable, whereas the PFC base map is decent for moderately modded cars right off the bat.
The knowledge base for the PFC is very large.

I understand that the PFC is much farther along because people have had them for a while. From what I have seen there is much more potential for datalogging and an easy to used interface that isn't an extra cost. Although it is more expensive than the PFC right now. I think that it could be the new way to go for the ecu after there are more people using it and better base maps. I am a newbie when it comes to RX7's so I am just trying to gather info.

The AEM has far more datalogging capabilities, with pretty much unlimited logging if you keep your laptop hooked up, as well as a fairly large ammount of on-board memory for logging.
The AEM is more advanced and complicated, therefore much harder to setup and learn. The PFC is easier to setup with more support, but pretty basic when you compare side-to-side. The AEM does have a forum on AEM's website that has plenty of people willing to help out, and AEM's tech line is really helpfull though kind of hard to get ahold of. Though you can probably count the number of people who have tuned the AEM on an RX-7 on one hand.
Basically, if you want something that will get you around, fun to play with, and simple to setup. Get the PFC. If you are hardcore and want as many features and benifits as possible (without spending thousands on a MOTEC), have ALOT of patience, and don't mind getting frustrated quite frequently, go with the AEM.
I've been trying to learn to tune my AEM myself, but I have resorted to having someone help me because its just so hard. Once you have it setup right, the added benifits such as UEGO feedback, full nitrous/water injection control, etc really pays off.
All this of course is my opinion, and i'm sure lots of PFC people will disagree.
