Advice on what to look for on a 94 FD
Hello,
I am going to buy a 94 FD Touring with 32,500 miles on it from one of my coworkers. I plan to take it into the RX-7 store in a few days to check it out before I buy.
I have been lurking on the forums and I have gathered a lot of info. I have used the search button a lot, but I thought I'd just ask for a synthesis of all the important questions that I should be asking. There is so much info out there that I'm not sure what the most important questions are.
I know to ask for a compression test and a boost test. It has the three safety recalls that I know of. I also know that it does exhibit the 3,000 RPM hesitation.
I really appreciate any advice. I don't know much about RX-7s yet, but I imagine I'll be learning. By the way, the car is bone stock, original everything.
Thanks!

It sounds like a really nice car. With really low miles it might be beneficial to do an ATF and clean some carbon out of the engine. It seems you have done pretty much everything you need to. There are some FAQs on what to look for in a 3rd gen, you might want to try searching
good luck and hope everything goes well

Also, when I test drove it I asked him how long he lets it sit when he's done driving before he turns off the engine. (I know you should do this in any turbo car). He didn't seem to know that he should be doing this, so I assumed he doesn't let it idle a while before he turns it off. Should I be worried about that?

I got this from the link that DaedelGT provided, right at the bottom:
"Also critical to the longevity of the motor and turbo is a nice cool down period of at least thirty seconds. Spirited driving on the track can require up to 5 minutes of cool down to let the iron and aluminum components of the engine recover from their thermal expansions"
Is he wrong?

He is right. Cool your car down by driving it easy at the end of your drive. If you let the car sit at idle, no air passes thru the radiator, and the engine gets hotter.
