Addiction
I have to agree aswell....... very good thread. I know how it feels when your fd is down and hoping its going to be up and running soon. The fd is like a female that will always be there for good times, will never complain to you but its very high maintenance haha... but no matter what happens you would rather rebuild the car than sell it or throw it away. -andrew
i agree with everyone, good thread. i can relate with being able to hop in a car or on a bike and just take off and all my bad thoughts seem to fade away. i am aching for hit of my new
rx7 that i bought last month. i am overseas and have been on this forum everday looking for new toys to have waiting at the house to put on. the only thing i am worried about is will i have enough time in 20 days to finish everything and get to enjoy the awsomeness of full exhaust, bnr's, hks rs intake's and high boost among other things! buy the time i get home in sept. i will have dropped 35-40g's........i think about this and i can kind of agree with the original poster in the thinking that it is an addiction. i must be crazy, but i know that no other car can give me the enjoyment like the rx7.

All things in moderation. You can still go overboard on anything, even if you love it and it's not something like hard drugs or gambling.
I've spent 20+ hours a week for two years and about $15k on car projects, and that's only because my main projects have been 2nd gens which are dirt cheap. Now I've got a 400+rwhp setup with an engine built and tuned by me and a custom single turbo setup I put together without a kit. Only a relatively small group of non-professional people here have really done all that on their own just by being self-taught.
It's been a long journey, and sometimes you wonder what you've been giving up to achieve your goals. There are a lot of places you can go see and a lot of other things you can do with that money you've been spending on your car. I've skipped countless concerts and smaller vacations to afford car parts. When I am considering dating a girl, I think long and hard about whether I would be willing to give up spending time and (most importantly) money on car parts for her. And usually the answer to that is a resounding "no," although not always. But all that can't last forever, especially once you finish up a project. You still enjoy the car, but you have to start devoting that extra time and money you spent on it to other things.
Eventually you have to slow down.
