Actuator Rod wont stay on..ideas?

during my last rebuild.. I did the rich mans non-seq. conversion..

After awhile of run in.. eventually the actuator rod popped off the flapper arm

I used the the locking U-clip from a spare set of turbos to put it back on..

but now it's popped off again...(and I have no more)

at idle I can hear it rattling open and closed repeatedly..

I can still boost 7psi (hooray for free flowing exhaust)

but it's laggy like hell and totally undesired obviously..

any ideas how I can keep it from popping off?

*note* I DON'T want to remove the twins from the car.. as I've had horrors of broken exhaust studs and/or exhaust leaks..in the past and would not want to repeat that nightmare

removing shielding and IC pipe and intake and what not is totally fine with me..

I've tried using a length of wire and "looping" it around the "****" and then twisting it to close the gap.. but when I pry on it with a screw driver I can still get the arm to pop off... so that hasn't really worked out for me..

Ideas? suggestions?

FWIW, I broke one of those clips but found the correct size at a local hardware store. Sorry I've forgotten exactly what size now but if you have a mic you should be able to get it.
I'd also make sure things are moving freely and aren't bound up.
