ACT 6-puck - A great clutch

So, i pulled my motor and gearbox this weekend. I blew up the gearbox in the fall, and the motor has 3 hard seasons on it and is starting to push a bit of coolant, so its a good time for a rebuild, but that's for another thread. I knew my clutch was going to look haggard, and it should after the way I treated it. This clutch was in the car when i bought it almost 6 years ago, so i don't know the complete history. It has tons of passes and street time. My best 60' is a 1.47 and i know i have 100s in the 1.5s. 8100 RPMs, drop the cluch and go. It didn't feel like it needed to be replaced and the weekend before i blew up the trans, I made that 10.44 pass with it. However, looking at the clutch, the pucks are nearly worn all the way to the rivets. There is also a pretty deep groove cut into the pressure plate, but not in the flywheel.

Just for reference, i dynoed 512 rwhp and had the boost turned up a little past that during the end of the last season. The clutch is streetable, but everyone's definition is different. It takes a bit of getting used to, but handled everything i threw at it. As far as clutches go, its fairly inexpensive too.

Hairline crack in the pressure plate.

Rowdy.

I think that is pretty amazing I recently installed an act 6 puck and haven't tracked it yet but feels great on the street. Good info. Does this mean your going to put in another ACT or are you going with something different?

I haven't determined my power goals yet. However, i think for anything under 600, i would chose this clutch again in a heartbeat. For over that, it would probably be time to look into a dual or triple plate setup.

Is there a way to tell if this is the Extreme or Heavy Duty pressure plate? I can't remember which it is.

I'm also thinking about the sprung 6-puck that they offer now? Any word if it can stand up to the same abuse?

I love mine

I blew through the ACT street/strip , which is weak.

This clutch has held up well for me , at almost 10,000 miles , and mine is sprung, which makes it *somewhat* smooth to drive

They look different. Try and go to the ACT website and compare yours.
