you might have to remove the ABS bracket to get to them but when you just unscrew them they should just kinda come out or kinda knock loose.

what do they go to on the other side of the firewall? and is that accessible by just removing the glove box?

The other side of the firewall ? to get that unit out you first remove the two lines at the firewall on the engine side , easy so far . Then to get out the unit remove the glove box AND the complete dash board . Completely, the blower box, Ac unit and heater unit are then removeable .Turn on the radio remove the seats , drop the column pull the gauge cluster ect.ect. Have fun .
