Question AC/Heater interior panel help

Ok guys I知 trying to paint some interior peaces that need some work. The problem I知 having is I can remove the clear little display windows on the heater/ac panel. If some one can give a pointer before I F it up on how to remove them without braking them that be great? Thanks

I ended up soaking my panel in hot water for about 5 mins. The adhesive softened up enough that I could carefully peel the plastics off by hand.

To put them back on, I used a couple dabs of epoxy---haven't had an issue with them in over 4 years.

I just took the off with out any hot water or heat gun. Just take you time taking it off don't rush or get frustrated over it, cause this plastic is old (to old) and it will brake if you put pressure on it.

One other thing you might want to do if you plan on paining all the panels. Once you take all ***'s and switches, use lacquer thiner on all plastic to get old paint off then send it down with 600 grit, after WET send it with 800 grit. Use special plastic paint (if you want it to lest long) don't buy these cheap wall-mart spay-paint.

It a very long proses to do it this way, By sending it down, It took me about 25 hours do finish instrument cluster alone. Oh yeah one other thing on instrument cluster. the turn signal indicators (the green plastic circles) you can also take them off. Just use J B weld or something similar to install them back on. ( I customized mine by installing orange turn indicators it came out real cool, like the rest of the lighting in side the vehicle.

Good luck on this project. Are you paining them same color? I did mine same color which is semi-black.

Thanks for the hints.

Im painting mine with textured black spray paint to get the 94 FD look. The paint im using is made for all plastics and it sticks so good you can even use it on things that are meant for out doors.
