AC/Heat Air controls broken. how to fix?
The cold to hot air control is broken. Seems like the gears on it are busted. How do you fix this? the mazda dealer wants $750 for a new one. Do I need to get the whole control panel??? Because that is what the mazda dealer wants to fix it with a new control panel.
thanks.
thanks.

My hot->cold control **** has the same problem - you can turn it but it definitely is not hooking up like it should. I was going to take out the center console piece to check it out, but I think you've got to remove the instrument cluster first to get at one of the screws for the center piece. I'd rather wait and hear from somebody here that knows what the problem is before I start tearing it down.
Doesn't anyone have prior experience with this - seems like it might be a common thing ( at least on the 93? )

Are you sure you switch is broken? My cold/heat control **** would spin and do nothing also. In my case the nut holding the switch was loose, and turning the control **** would cause the entire switch assembly to rotate. The solution for me was to pull the **** off and tighten the nut on the switch behind it. It took only a couple of minutes to do including the time it ook to align the full cold and full heat position correctly. It may be worth your time to see if this is your problem also.

Yes. The cold/heat control **** just spins around. Are you sure you can just yank it off? If so, I'll give it a shot. I just don't want to break it when I pull it off.
