? about SPI Temp gauge install

I've got a SPI temp guage (used) so it didn't come with any instructions.

I've got 4 wires, white, black, green and red.

I hooked up the white and black wires for the dash light, that seemed to work fine with the dimmer.

So I think that the green and red wires are for 12V and the temp sender. Well with that set-up the guage works only the with the park lights on.

So I try playing around with the wires to see what will make everything work and I get more confused. I can wire it up and get different temp readings.

I need a diagram. Any pointers?

Thanks,
Jeff

I don't have an SPI.

I have a DEFI.

5 wires
Red: 12V
Black: Ground
White: Illumination
Orange: Ignition

And a separate temperature sensor.

That mens your white is either illumination or ignition. Since you tried it as illumination, try it on the ignition. Maybe it always lights.
