Question '99 turbos - abraidable seal performance?

What's the difference of having the abraidable seals on the '99 spec turbos? I understand the effect of keeping the compressor fins clearance at zero with the rubberized seals; but, I'm wondering what's the performance difference between the RS/RZ turbos versus the regular '99 spec turbos (sans abraidable seals)? In other words, do the abraidable seals make that much difference in compressing the intake air?

I have always thought that ALL the 99 spec turbos have abraidable seals. I might be wrong though.

99 RB models don't have the abraidible seal, RS and RZ models do.

I made that mistake as well. SO when I originally ordered the '99 spec turbos, I assumed they would have the seals. And to my surprise, they did not. I can get the RS/RZ turbos at the same cost ... albeit a two week waiting period. Hence my question, should I wait two weeks for the RS/RZ turbos or am I well enough with the RB turbos?

assuming that the 99+ non-abradable turbos are the same as the 93-95 turbos, there is a considerable efficiency gain by upgrading to the abradable seals. I have seen some numbers on here awhile back. If I were you, I'd wait the 2 weeks.

Ah, I see now. I've read this page at least a dozen times and only now did I notice that part about the efficiency designs and the seal construction. Figures ...
