Whats the difference? About $2000. Not worth the money in my opinion. If you're looking at both, and considering both, just scrap both ideas and get some upgraded twins instead. Way more performance for the money.

I'd agree and get the BNR...IF Brian has the kinks worked out. To be honest, is he doing Stage 3 upgrades anymore or is it stage 2 and below for the stockers.

What parts are high flowed/upgraded in the BNR twins compared to stock twins? Here in OZ I can only high flow the stockers, which I'm going to do soon as my stockers blow. They got 128000kms on them!

Hi Tim,

it appears he has everything worked out, at least from my observations on my FD. Last time I asked him about it, he told me that the setup I am running is the only "stage" he is selling right now.

The later model turbo packs had a different design turbo pack. They also increaded the boost levels from 10-8-10 to 12-10-12.

Tim, I thought you had the 99 Specs and were happy with them?

oh I am but every person has their own comfort level. Mine was tainted from the bastards at SR Motorsports and their upgraded twins that turned out not to be so upgraded. At that point, I choose the brand new 99 turbos that I got from Jesse Lau for a great price. They were just over the 2K range for zero miles. After meeting Bryan personally in B'ham, if I were sorting out a turbo set up, I'd feel comfortable buying his stage 2's or whatever the price range was for the 1600 setup (or was at the time). Save money and still have the confidence that the turbos aren't going to crap out on me in 1000 miles. Rich, can you expand the setup that he's using now? Bango bolt for oil control? BB or dynamic seals (carbon) seals? etc? what is the cost now? BTW, Bryan rebuilt one of the housings on the SR set and it was tight and showed his quality work.

The 'new' ones that I am running already have diff banjo bolts.....the entire center section where the oil and coolant lines bolt up is brand new. He may give an option for a more restrictive oil feed banjo bolt, which wouldnt be a bad idea. Not sure on the bearing/seal options, i think to keep cost down it is pretty much the basic stuff. I think that cost now is ~2300. I am *very* happy with Bryan's work......he has always taken care of me and delivered a quality product that he stands behind. After speaking with SPOautos, we both think that many of the "smoky" BNRs were simply due to poor crankcase ventilation (the fix being an oil catch can).

I bought my brand new J-spec '99 Type RS twins for $2910 from SR Motorsports "garage sale" Nov 2002. Very happy with the quick boost response (at a slightly lower rpm), and they make 15 to 16 psi quite easily with no problems. Turbos have 18000 miles on them. Going on my 3rd motor, and the J-specs are still in great shape!
