99 spec turn signals

Hey everyone, I am purchasing a 99 spec front end, and I was curious as to the difference between the replica turn signals and the authentic ones: what is the difference in quality between the 2? Is it really worth the extra money to get the authentic ones? Thank you for your time! ~Anthony

It's absolutely worth the extra money to go with the authentic ones. I have personally seen an FD that had the replicas and then I switched them to the authentics. In my opinion, night and day difference. You definitely know where your extra money went---the replicas just look cheap once they're on the car. sitting in the box they look ok, but once they're installed.......

+1, I've seen the replicas in person too, they look very cheap. Basically like Altezza's for your turning signals. Spend the extra hundred or so dollars and get the better Authentic pieces.

Get the real deal. I have the original 99 spec lights where my buddy has some ebay ones and his look like ****. But its always up to the individual and their own tastes. Do what you want.

I got mine from WiseSports. The quality is very good and they are plug & play. They come in 4 different finishes too.

It says that it comes with the " '99 spec style" so I'm assuming it's the replicas. If anybody could post up pics of their real '99s, I'd like to seem them. I thought my replica's looked great.

Ive compared the replicas we sell and the original and there isnt much of a difference. Not worth the $150 difference.

The ones listed with that kit are replica, but you can change them to the originals if you want them.

I don't know if you noticed but jason in this thread that replied to you is jason from rx7store. If you didn't get your stuff yet, ask him to switch them.

If you ask him to change he it would. Jason tends to go out of his way to make things right! I have nothing but good things to say about him!

The fact that Jason says it's not worth the extra $150, for a product that HE'S selling, speaks on the fact that there's not much of a difference.

Edit: Forgot to mention that the JDM '99s need an adapter to work on the US cars also.

I've seen the difference with my own eyes. There may be different knock-offs floating around, but all the sets I've seen have an almost 'disco ball' pattern to then bulb housing and in my opinion, they really look like ebay made in china junk. Maybe the ones jason sells are different.......

I've gotten a lot of helpful answers from Goodfellas in the past, so if he's tellin me its worth the extra bucks I'm willing to dig into my pockets for it, better to pay now than be disgusted and buy an entirely new set later. Thanks everyone for the input, helped a lot. ~Anthony

whoa missed that, why do the JDMs need an adaptor and how much is it, and is it included with that body kit purchase?

You can splice the wiring in yourself, but if you want the clean look...

Just send FDNewbie an email for pricing.

The harness is around $50, I believe RE Amemiya makes it actually. I picked up mine from Rotary Extreme, but I'll bet FDNewbie can get it for you. It's just a short harness that makes your harness compatible with the 99 spec combo lights.
