99 spec turn signal question

My car has the 99 spec turns installed. The problem is that the forward lights are blue in color.

Basically I want to know if you can switch out the blue lamps and switch it to a regular "white" one that is DOT approved. I also want to know the size (code) for the lamp.

I know I can probably get the size from pulling the bumper or headlight assembly and pulling the bulb. I'd rather buy the bulb first, then swap itout.

Thanks in advance.

The "forward" lights are standard 194 wedge bulbs...same as the '93-'95 lights. Signals are 1156...again, same as '93-'95 lights.

And, you should only need to remove the black headlight shroud to get to the turn signal lights.

I bought PIAA Xtreme White Wedge Bulbs (aka HID bulbs) for my 99spec fogs (Part # PIA19172). Cost $14.50, and they're very bright. Had 'em for over 2 years now, and I am very pleased.

I was not aware of that. In that case, there are two other options (from Japan) for botht he '93 - '95 and 99spec lights (assuming the bulb size is the same in both):

Option 1: CRD loading, enormous element wide angular LED model. IE, it's a wide angular LED, which can illuminate over a wider scope.

Option 2: White spread 9 light LED position sphere: white super high brightness LED

Would these be DOT legal? Sorry for all the fuss, but cops are really cracking down in my area on non dot and blueish lights (impersonating a police officer)

So I would be able to go to the dealership or automotive parts store and ask for this product? Again sorry for the newb question.

IIRC, the whole "DOT approved" thing you see on Ebay is complete BS. The DOT doesn't approve lightbulbs. Your local jurisdiction however, does regulate the colors various lights can and can't be, when they can be operated, etc.

Because of that, I can't tell you if they're 100% legal or not, but I'll tell you this, I live in Northern VA, HOME of the traffic police. They don't do ANYTHING else. So they'll def. pull you over for blue bulbs, exhaust, too low suspension, etc etc. I drive w/ my dim lights on 24/7, and have never had a cop give me a problem about the bulbs. They may have a TINY tint of blue to 'em (just a hint), but they're by far white bulbs...and very bright. Just not yellow/orange

Sure. Any autoparts store should have a whole section of bulbs up for the buying. I suppose if you want to be 100% safe, just get your standard clear, uncolored/coated glass bulbs. They'll be a touch yellowish, since they're standard tungsten filaments. No need to go super fancy, the standard Sylvania or whatever's the norm at the parts store will be fine.

But....if you want LEDs...you can also get them at www.autolumination.com . Though, you may argue that they're a touch blue.
