Hey guys I want your opinion. Should I put on the 99 spec rear spoiler if we don't consider $$. Will it look good on a red 93 wit stock rims? Also what about the 99 spec front chin spoiler? Im thinking of getting both, but do you guys think it will look nice or too extreme?

 

Do you like it? That is all you should really care about. If you are unsure about how it will look, there are several examples to be found on the forums.

Whatever you do, don't put those ugly bullet hole decals on the rear end of your car as pictured on that site.

 

If you are planning on putting this on your "7th gen civic ", then I suggest no.

Here is mine with the 99 rear wing and the R1 chin spoiler, you will need the chin spoiler, or else the front end is way too light.

 

the 99 spec spoiler is my favorite. Most of the other spoilers look out of place!

 

yeah... too bad it costs an arm and a leg!

 

Guess the only thing that can catch an FD is a bullet.

 

Crispy - one thing to note about the 99 wind tunnel numbers is that the front end lift is, obviously, measured with respect to the 99+ front bumper and larger front splitter. You at least have the splitter, IIRC, which is probably responsible for most of the reduction of front end lift.

p.s. I just bought this wing, for basically the same reasons, and to match my new 99 front end Unfortunately I have to get it painted as the J-spec silver is different from the US silver.

And yes there is a difference in the two wings RB vs '99 Mazda. Define huge. IMO yes.

From what i noted off the video where I got the data is they attributed most of the aero benefits to the 99 splitter **AND** the 99 undertray. Yes the undertray!
And keep in mind these were only rough calcs and any time you screw with ride height and rake the aero is going to change significantly. Pls with my vented hood I'm sure the calcs differ..they were only doen to illustrate some benefits fo the '99 hardware I guess.

I'm getting the new undertray as well, but having a hard time finding one in the US. Didn't even know it was improved for aero effect, so that's a bonus I guess.

In price? Yes. In functionality? Not really, unless you plan to adjust your spoiler all the time. It's esentiallly the same thing at a fraction of the cost, but retains the quality.

 

RB - fiberglass(is it? I assume yes); OE - urethane (difference - yes)
RB - non adjustable; OE - adjustable (to some, myself included this is the HUGE difference. For the casual street driver this particular difference is transparent. I track my car regularly so to me yes the difference is HUGE. And possibly the added expense is in the hardware necessary to facilitate the adjustability.
RB - functional: yes probably?; OE - functional: without question.

So it depends on your needs...cost not withstanding.

you can get the 99 undertray from mazdacomp.

I am not sure what the difference is between the two as the bottoms are identical. The only difference is the splitter part that seals against the radiator. If you cut that off of the 93-96's then it looks exactly the same as the 99.
