'99 spec parts
so i've been thinkin about converting to 99 spec and wanted to know if anyone had a copy of the parts book for 99-2002. Right now im in the "collecting" phase and still need the bumper, wing and a few other assorted items. i talked to someone at corksport and they said that there are many other 99 spec parts that they can get but are not listed (such as brake ducts, and tubes that route your oil cooler airflow out of the side openings near the door...that sounds cool to me) but they are not listed... and he would have no way for me to see the parts book. There are alot of improvements that were made to the 7 (especially regarding airflow in the front) and i was wondering if anyone has access to the parts book cause there is a lot of good stuff in there. thanks
By the way, if you dont already know the 99' spec ROCKS!!!

Contact Jesse Lau.. He's on the forum.. Usually at the parts for sale section.. i have gotten few JDM parts from him.. Good price and fast shipping..
He could get any Mazda Japan parts for you..
Also, JT import.. i have never bought anything from him.. but I heard he's pretty good also..
Ohh.. Another guy.. He works for Border Racing in Japan.. I'll get his info later..

Just curious, not trying to jack this thread or anything , but how does one tell the difference between authentic 99spec taillights and the custom made ones? I mean, I've never seen either and it might be a big difference but is there a distinct way to tell them apart?

hmmm...well as far as i've read there is someone on the forum (i cant remember his name) who can do the conversion for $45. I believe one would need to open up the light unit and then re-seal it somehow, but i've heard that the conversion he does looks dead on. The only way you could really be sure is if you closely examine the lights and look for any signs of it being "opened". really, unless its brand new in a factory mazda package you cant be entirely sure (especially on ebay ) jesse lau has the best price i've seen on the real 99+ lights ($450 i think).

I see, so there is no coding or serial number on the lights itself somewhere that would signify that they were authentic...
Thanks Mahjik

The difference is that real 99 spec tail lights have raised lens.. the fake or converted ones have flat red and orange lens.. Also, the actual circles are not perfect circles.. they are slight.. very slight oval.. I know this because I have opened up a real 99 spec.. ive been doing tail lights for about 2 years now.. and my technique is different from others.. I don't paint and use film to make it look like 99..
Painted ones are not reversable.. some cares.. some dont.. of course because I don't paint.. i charge more than others.. Painted ones are simple and quicker to convert.. mine are average of 3 to 4 hours.. check out my new conversion.. Sorry for the plug..
