Angry 99 Spec Gauge Isn't Working!!!

Hey guys,

Just picked up a 99 spec gauge finally and went to put her into my JDM Series 7. I knew there was a boost gauge built in but I was always under the impression it had somewhere you plumb a vacuum hose into....boy was I wrong!

I then did a search here which suggested you need to hook up the MAP sensor wire to the back of the gauge and ground it in order to get the boost gauge working in the cluster. Fair enough I thought but is the MAP sensor wire the some colour on a Series 7 as it is on a Series 6, i.e Green wire with yellow stripes and silver dots?

Also I thought the rest was simply plug and play. Turned the ignition on and the milage showed up so I thought you beauty! When I went to turn the car on the milage on the speedo disappeared and the tacho isn't working and I'm assuming the speedo isn't either. Everything else works fine...dash lights, hazards, indicators, high beams icon, retract headlights, coolant temp gauge, fuel level gauge, etc.

So what am I doing wrong??

How did you start the car with your entire dash in your living room?

BTW, rx7club blocks hotlinking now, so I've taken the liberty of rehosting those images on my photobucket until Ramy does whatever he's doing with it

Thanks for the link but that only solves the inbuilt boost gauge problem.

I read an older post which said you need to cut a few wires and reroute the path on the back of the cluster etc

I actually put that new dash in last night by myself which was an absolute bitch so no I didn't start the car without it lol After it didn't work I again took the whole thing out so I've had alot more practice in pulling dashes in and out of the car than most.

Here's a photo I'd never thought I'd ever see...3 dashes sitting in my garage. Series 8 Series 7 and Series 6. Don't ask me why I have so many.
