Come on guys... What about Front Lip? Emblems? Adapter Harness for Combo Light?

On the topic of emblems, if you're doing the front, might as well do the rears too.

For what it's worth, I also just did this conversion... I bought the rebar, I bought the foglights, I bought the under panel...

BUT when I did the install, I looked at the rebar and said to myself "I paid an extra $500 for this?" - decided to sell the 99 rebar. With that, I also lost the mounts for the foglights, but truth be told - I'm glad I did (sold those too). Same thought pattern for the rebar went for the undertray - decided to keep the 93-95.

Recouped $800 I didn't have to spend and I'm just as happy (if not happier).

I'm over in Coral Gables if you wanted to check it out.

The 99 spec rebar was not worth it.
It would have sucked to cut up a brand new peice to fab up against my IC
I sold mine to Riz and modified the 93.

So if i just transfer the mounting hardware from my stock bumper over to the 99 spec bumper, is it a bolt on? Do i have to rivet anything?

I recall drilling out the old rivets to remove the pieces from my old bumper and then I did have to rivet them on to the new bumper (at least the top pieces).

Even if i get OEM Mazda parts, do i still have to rivet these brackets? It doesn't come as a straight bolt on piece from Mazda?

It's not about the price of the parts needed to do this conversion, i was just thinking about the amount of work involved in swapping the front end. I've done it before on other cars and it's relatively simple...

It seems with this car is much more involved. I thought by going with OEM Mazda parts not only the fitment was right, but i thought it would be a prep/paint then bolt on right after type of job...

We'll see how it goes =/

Riveting is almost easier then using a nut and bolt.

Take a look at your current 93 spec bumper and see how it the aluminum pieces (top of the bumper) attach to the bumper skin. 99 spec will be the same. You will use some nuts and bolts, but a portion you will have to rivet.

No, not at all. The 93 rebar is fiberglass (which is why its yellow), the 99 rebar is plastic. The plastic 99 may be slightly lighter, I can't remember, but it's 100% injection molded plastic, vs the 93.

Yes. You will have to drill out the aluminum rivits from your stock bumper and rivit it on to the 99 skin. Those pieces hold it up, and are what bolt to the front radiator support rail thing. I think the stock bumpers (93) also do not come with these rivited on... they are separate pieces in the parts catalogue.

To do the 99 conversion "right" there are a number of pieces that you need. They all kinda "tie in together" to make the entire assembly solid. (knee bone connected to the hip bone kinda thing... if you're missing some of the parts it gets wiggly ). Let me preface this list by saying, yes, it may be possible to get everything to mount up by adapting some of the 93 parts.

Front end:
-Bumper skin (attaches to the 99 rebar, lip, undertray, and brake ducts [which complete the sides of the undertray] )
-Rebar (attaches to the 99 skin, combo lights, fog lights, undertray, brake ducts,)
-Lip (feeds brake ducts)
-Combo lights
-Fog lights (optional)
-Undertray (made specifically to mate with the 99 rebar/bumper)
-"Brake ducts" (which are triangular and complete the sides of the undertray... think of them as part of the undertray with air scoops that direct air toward the brakes from the holes in lip)

Other Exterior:
-rear wing
-99 Calipers and brake rotors front (314x32mm), 99 calipers/rotors rear (314x20)
-Front brake backing plate (scoop catches air from "brake ducts" and cools rotors)
-Fender side marker lights
-Front and rear 'M' badges, and rear bumper badges

Good info here.
Hey rotormotor, where in the bay are you? You rock a 3-rotor?
Anyway to use the "brake ducts" with pre-99 models?
