if any of you have a 99 front end with the license plate holder, does the holes for the plate match up with us license plates??? also, if it doesnt, how/what did you modify???

the holes don't line up with US plates.they aren't too far off and the US plates will cover up the holes for japanese plates.
I used a few pieces of scrap aluminum plate behind the cover to space them in toward the center (3/4-1" if I remember right)

i drilled 2 new holes in the license plate, just like 1/2 inch out from the orignal holes

 

You could get brackets that will allow the US plates to fit.

im most likely going to do that too.. but i was wondering, are they threded in the back??? if they are, drilling will screw up the threads and if they are not, does it hold the license plate on secured?

 

I'll try to get a pic in the morning since the bumper is still in the small garage(I've had it almost a year but just got the car ready for it)

The answer is still the same. Drill new holes in your license plate.

 

But.....

Is there anywhere to get a matching license plate frame that fits both the US plate/space in the rear, as well as fits the US plate/Japan space in the front so it looks correct??
