99' spec bumper

Hey everyone,

I just bought a 1994 R2 from the U.S. (I live in Canada). In order to pass a "federal inspection" to get the car registered in Canada I need to install 8km/hour bumper reinforcements. These cost about $750 Canadian. So I thought, "Fine, I can pay that."

Now as I was surfing the web trying to find body kits that appeal to me (a challenging task), I came across the '99 spec front end. I loved it immediately. Here's the problem: I noticed on RX7store.net that the bumper needs to attach to the '99 spec bumper reinforcement (about $450).

Keep in mind that I have not bought either bumper reinforcement yet.

So here's where you guys come in, hopefully someone can answer my questions:

1.) What speed is the '99 spec reinforcement rated at (I'll need either 5mi/hour or 8km/hour)

2.) If I cant get the proper rated '99 spec reinforcement, can I still fasten the '99 spec bumper to the non-'99 spec reinforcement?

To sum things up, I really want the '99 spec front end but want to avoid having to buy two reinforcements (one to pass the inspection, and another to fasten the '99 spec bumper to).

Thanks a lot.

Nathan

You can use your existing REBAR (reinforcement bar) but you have to bore out the turn signals as the 99 signals wont fit unless you do. It doesnt have to be professionally cut, just big enough so the 99 turn signals can fit.

On another note, there are many people who run NO rebar at all and have had no problems. I will also be doing this. I dont care for inspections, i dont go to those lol.
