99 bumper...wat all parts u need?

i need a new bumper...i wanna stay stock, or stockish...so since i need to replace it i think i will get a 99 after much consideration...although i actually dont care for the 99 turn signals as much.

but anyway my question is, and i did search this, what all parts are needed? i seen the ducts that they say makes it work with the 93, in my case, oil coolers. do u need them? and talking to a friend, also 3rd gen owner, he said u may also some duct to flow to the radiator and intercooler?
other than that i know the lower lip and lights...anything else im missing?

so i just wanna know wats needed, or anyone who has a 99, wat u got and hows it work, how was the install, stuff like that.

thanks

If you just need a new bumper skin, it would be a hell of a lot cheaper to just get a new/used front bumper skin.

To install a 99 front end correctly, you need the skin, the reinforcement piece, the lights, the lip spoiler, the 99-undertray, the 99-oil cooler/brake duct pieces. Lots o money.

I heard from Rotary Extreme that you can just use the stock undertray with the 99 Spec. front bumper. The reinforcement piece is used to keep your bumper from collapsing into itself when there's weight put on it. And it's to protect your car incase of an accident.

I'm holding the white rebar (re-enforcement bar) in this thread..
https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...ght=rebar+spec

you can reuse the underbelly tray. The only thing you have to do is cut off the lower airguide...

You don't need a new rebar. open up the holes on your existing one to fit the 99 spec combo lights. Through some wheeling and dealing, I was able to upgrade to my 99 bumper for only 90 bones

The Rotary Extreme bumper is urethane.. not fiberglass. Quality is good and you simply cut the ends off your bumper reinforcement (crash beam) on either side and the center portion remains there.

The brake/oil cooling ducts are 2-3x larger and the radiator opening is easily 2x larger. Plus the Rotary Extreme bumper has the license plate holder removed/blended smooth and then a new mold was created and a fresh eurathane bumper resulted. Check it out on their website. They carry the oil cooler ducts, '99 spec lip, lights, everything.

I have one... not installed yet (soon) and it will look great.

.
why butcher your rebar? It's there to hold the bumper up so that it doesnt sag......i have seen an FD where it was cut into thirds like that, made me shake my head. It isn't hard to just open up the holes for the combo lights.

Get a MazdaComp membership. They have all the '99 spec front end parts you need, at pretty good prices.

www.mazdamotorsports.com , you only need two race results per year to be a member, and autocrosses count.

Here's a link with all the part numbers and descriptions:

Get the authentic combo lights, you can get the adapter harness from Rotary Extreme for like 50 bucks.

The knockoff lights look ok off of the car, but once installed they look horrible, trust me.

I am 99% positive that all of the knockoffs come from the same source. I was able to get a pair of OEM combo lights from a buddy in japan for around 225 if I remember correctly. Rotary Extreme sells good products, but in this case I opted to go for the real deal. 380 bones isnt really that much compared to an IC, wheels, etc.

IM running the 99 front bumper and didnt change the oiler cooler duct. I didnt even know where to find it at the time. Im using the 99 rebar and the painter who painted it fit the underbelly pan in for me I got base model so i would only need the left side duct but who knows if it would even fit since im using aftermarket HID fog lights that are the same size as the 99 spec fogs. BUT i screwed the bracket into the rebar.
