Arrow 94 Twin Turbo Launch

Just curious, I'm a new driver and a 3rd day RX-7 owner. I have a 94 twin turbo with a apexi exhaust, power intake, street port, blow off valve, and apexi ecu with power fc controller. Right now I am boosting at 11 psi and I am not very experienced with driving yet.

I was wondering, what do you all rev to in takeoff and how exactly do you do it. I've heard of a few opinions as far as rev in 1st, then launch, or rev in neutral and then launch, and even rev in neutral and drop to 3rd gear with a high rev.

Any help is appriciated, thanks a lot...

Do you have an automatic or a manual? Street or Strip? Drag or Street tires? I'm assuming street racing with street tires and a manual.

Manual:
Most people rev it to about 3000 rpm and slip the clutch slightly to reduce wheel hop, which is a major problem. I have gotten a few good launches by revving to 3k and then flooring it while quickly engaging the clutch (not dropping it though). This is with stock size Dunlop SP8000s. This gave me a hard launch with a little wheelspin and only a small hop or two. I have launched at 3500 rpm and got a couple of bad hops and had to quickly let off. Truth be told, I have not done that many hard launches.

Auto:
Not sure, but I think most people put it in "hold" mode and brake torque it (hold brake down while opening the throttle).

USE SEARCH BUTTON.Mabey you should just learn how to drive first. The RX7 is not a toy and there is a lot more to driving one than "How do I launch?" And for the last God damn time ALL 3RD GENS ARE TWIN TURBO STOCK.

This is the second motor on the car. It was replaced at Rick's Rotary in Dublin and has about 2k miles on the new motor. Turbos are about 7 months old. I have an appt. at Ricks on Wed. for a diag. and once I'm positive everything is fine I'll do a little racing.

Im getting it painted in the next month or so also, black gets dusty too damn easy..... i'm deciding between jetta silver, ford blue, or electron blue..... tough choice.

By the way, who did you talk to that wants to race me? Everyone and they're brother walk up to me wanting to race now and I have no idea who any of these people are, but give me a chance to get the driving down and I'll run.....

I use 14 psi in my rear tires when I launch on STD Tires, and no hops at all, just sits on the back wheels and pulls hard.

Personally I would not start racing that soon with a new engine. Just my opinion but mine did not fully break in till about 4k then I felt safe racing. Just use your best judgement and everything will be fine.

Congrats on the new car and welcome to the forum
