Need help!

I have put a 93 ported motor with larger injectors (built by the Rotary Performance guys back in June of 2000) but the car got wrecked after ~ 5K miles and I got my hands on it. It RAN SWEET as a wreck! I mean, faster than any of the FD3's I've driven, so we put it in a 94 Touring that had a blown drag motor, thinking that it would be an easy swap. We put the goodies from the 94 on (mid, down and Greddy exhaust along with the Greddy IC), but it just doesn't run right. Kicks sputters as soon as the turbo's kick in. The fuel air gauge is clueless ... its just been a big let down.

Is there any reason why a 93 motor (with wiring harness) won't bolt up to a 94 chassis?

I have changed ECU's from 93 to 94 to Pettit, with no luck. One clue seems to be that the smog pump clutch isn't engaging like I've seen in other FD3's making me think something is different between a 93 R1 and a 94 M1.

After reading all of the $100 giveaway answers/questions, I have, what appears to be the SAME EXACT PROBLEM! I am replacing the wiring harness. I will repost as soon as I know whether this was the problem. When we first put in the motor it ran phenomenally, but it got sad fast. We tried just about all of the things you mentioned - funny how the FD minds work alike. We will know this week if this is the true fix.

BTW, also replumbed the vacuum rats nest with all new hose - just following best practice.
