93 Rx-7 Sratched And Peeling Plastic Fix

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello
On the 93 RX-7 there is a far better way to fix all of the plastic interior parts and make them look much nicer than before and its not a cheesy stick on trim. And looks better than the textured 93 up.I have done this for many customers they have all been very happy with this mod .First u will need a air 90 or die grinder or comparable air tool .You will need to buy some buffing pads for the air tool they should come with and buffing clay for them they sell a buffing kit like this at most auto stores.Ok now set aside a hour or so and start by buffing the plastic .keep the buffer moving and dont over speed the air tool about 1/2 trigger takes it off nice use the white clay block to buffer pad when needed and resume polish. You will be totally amazed at the beauty that these parts will have after doing this. These plastic items will look as if they are wet or clear coated when you are done.We charge 200 locally to do gauge cluster, radio surround, center console and both side door trim. You can now do it with a few hours of labor as I like to share good ideas have fun. PS will take some pics tonight when I go to the shop. Will post them tomarrow

Thanks for the post Rob. I have a 93 with the center console peeling in spots. I ordered a replacement from Mazdatrix two weeks ago. One of the guys over there called me when the order came in. He called me and said he was surprised to see how 'flat' the finish looked - not like the original 93's which were a little shiney. Anyway he sent it. There is a major difference and I am going to send it back (they charged $95.52). I'll try your method. Let's see some pics.
Thanks a lot.

That is actually a well known cure for the peeling panels and is commonly done.

Dean (drc on this forum) has repainted some of his 93 trim parts and they look like new. PM him for details.

That's because the 94s and 95s have the matte finish plastic and it's all you can buy as parts.
