93 help, loud psshhhhh sound...

So I pull out of the driveway, going about 3 mph down the street and my car starts making this PShhhhhhh sound, damn loud too...I stop, and turn off the car. Car is off, still making the pshhhh sound, sounds like high pressure air. I pop the hood, and nothin... Look under the car nothin. It continues to make the noise for about 2 minutes, then stops. I get in the car and it starts right up and runs just fine. Water temp is good, all coolant lines are ok, no disconnected vac lines. vacuum is great, perfect boost pattern, etc... no clue.

I just dont know what would make such a loud roar of Air and nothin is wrong.

Does it go away over 3k rpm? If so, check air pump and it's hoses. Otherwise check the coupler from turbo to air pipe before intercooler. The OEM coupler will crack and break with time. You may want to take all couplers off and check for cracks, splits, holes, etc. The only other thing I can think of is exhaust, check nuts-n-bolts and gaskets for leaks. Does it do it at idle? Does the noise get louder?

Definately not the fans. It sounds like, if you had an air compressor pumped up to 120 psi and disconnected the hose. That loud.

GoRacer... I checked all the hoses and it boosts perfect still. The problem has only happened once and when it did, I turned the car off and the noise was still happening. Yes, it started at Idle. Its almost like a super BOV but I was barely moving, and it never stopped. Im stumped.

Are you still on twins? It could be a broken or missing stud on DP, turbo or exhaust manifold. This would leak air and cause the compressor sound.

my fren's mitsu evo got f*cked with this sound... just the AC got f*cked... fans are not running.... air con gas is running at higher pressure than the hose could withstand.

Thanks a lot guys.

Oh and yes, I am still on stock Twins. I have had an exhaust leak from the dp gasket for a while, I will check this as well.

i doubt its any leak having to do with your turbo system (exhaust leak..ect.) cuz then ur boost would be messed up.... my guess is u checked it with a boost guage?

are u sure it was from YOUR car???
