93' FD, Manual Was my car originally an Automatic?
Hello Everyone! I am a new member and a new FD owner. I bought an FD 2 months ago, and it is a far cry from my first car; a 1966 VW Bus. I am tackling new issues like ECU's, water cooling, and rotary technical. Thankfully there is a wealth of information here that I have already put to good use, and my FD and I are thankful. Thanks everyone!
I discovered that my Check Engine Light bulb, or CEL, or MIL, as there are many terms for it, was missing. I replaced that bulb with the ABS bulb and to my expectation, it remained lit after start-up to indicate an issue. Thereafter, I pulled the service codes as described from this forum's 3rd Gen FAQ. The codes were 16, 77, 76.
16 = EGR Valve (California Only)
76 = Slip Lock Off Signal
77 = Torque Reduced Signal
My car has all of the stock parts, but I was told that the car was heavily raced, modded, and returned to stock. The only thing the car still has from the past is it's Roll cage, and I imagine a disabled EGR valve.
My question is, would a "Stock Manual 5 speed ECU" return service code 76, and 77, or are those service codes returned from and "Automatic 4 Speed ECU." There is no EC-AT behind the ECU. Are there any tell tale signs to identify either or other signs of a swap?
Any input would be great!

i may be going crazy but didnt only the touring model come in auto?
or is it that the touring model only came in auto?
what type of FD do you have? it should say on the sticker in the door.
Infact thinking about it now it should say what kind of transmission your FD came with on that sticker aswell.
at least it does on mine..it says transmission: 5MT

You may also be able to know if the transmission was swapped by looking at the tachometer, if the redline is at 7000 then it is an auto cluster.
Btw, I know someone with a 94 that is a base model and came from the factory with an auto. Just because the car is a touring model does not directly mean it has an auto transmission.

^that means because its an auto, it dosent mean its a touring.
Thats not the same as all tourings being auto from factory.
Anyway i thought all tourings came as autos but i but may be imagining it

Go to Mazda's web site, you can put your VIN in and it will give you what the stock configuration of the car was.

VIN check should reveal it.
You can call Mazda Customer Service and ask them as well.
My car was a 5speed but was also a touring model
A give away to a automatic was the center console had a extra aluminum frame on the passenger side to hold something for the automatic tranny. I forget what tho'

Ok, i'll be calling Mazda tomorrow. the number is 1-800-222-5500. I pulled off the passenger kick panels where the ECU hides behind, and the part number is N3C2. Which, I believe after searching the forum, is a 94' Automatic ECU.
Are there any reasons to pair a A/T ECU with a M/T ? My car was made 1992, so this could not have been the original ECU.
I did not find any information regarding what type of transmission it was shipped with on the door frame, But WAIT! Haha! I just looked into the leather booklet that came with my car. It still has the RX7 Quality inspection sheet, as well as the Service Pre-Delivery Inspection Sheet and it M/T is circled at the top. Vin on the sheet matches vin on the title.
Ok. So why A/T ECU
