93 FD cooling fan power issue

hello,

ran into an interesting problem pulling vehicle out of storage; 93 FD R1. It seems that after I dewinterized and took it for a drive and oil change, that as long as there is a good battery charge to the vehicle the front radiator fans will run at what seems like full speed, no matter what (dead cold motor), even when the key is completely removed. As soon as I turn the key to "on" and power is activated, fans turn off and it resumes normal operation. My temperature reading in both PowerFC and the dash seem to be working properly. It has killed my battery twice, and I am unable to troubleshoot it for any length of time due to the nature of how fast it kills my battery. I have pulled each fan relay mounted on the passenger wheel dome individually, and it seems that each one corresponds to what seems to be the proper fan speed trigger (1 and 3 and i think 4 cause lower speed, 2 unaffected.) I did notice a blue and white wire coming out of that relay harness towards the front of the car that WAS crimped to something, but is no longer. I cannot for the life of me find any bare wires that it could have came out of. I have also tried reseating the thermoswitch and the temp sensor on the water pump to be sure, but to no avail. Any suggestions / help / feedback appreciated!

I found that my fan relay harness was trashed and wires were touching causing it to back feed power at all times. Check inside the plugs for the recall harness for the wire ends to touch. I ended up cutting out the old clips and pinning a new one and it solved my issue.

indeed it was the fan relay on the passenger wheelwell. Took the 3 relays that were tied into it and put them back direct and the issue went away.
