NY '93 fd antenna

Hey Everyone I was wondering if there is a trick to fixing the my FD's Antenna. It was working fine and one day I was looking at it while I had it up because I was curious to see if it was the same tye of Antenna that was on my old fc.I tapped the antenna,i didnt even bend it, push it,spin it nothing.Next thing I know when i shut off car it wouldnt go completely down. It goes down out sticks out a lil over a inch, and when going up it only goes up about an inch as well.Is there a trick to fixing these antennas.I dont believe the mast has to be changed because it was working fine a few days ago, but you never know.

It is usually a pretty easy fix, at least it was with mine. Take it out (I got mine through the trunk.) open it up, usually the track or gears just needs some grease. Don't be scared to just pull it apart and lube it up. Even vaseline will work. I unwound my entire internals put it back in and have never once had it stick in 5 years since I did it.

If it's not returning completely up or down, the mast is probably broken...or more specifically the notched nylon strap that pushs and pulls the mast. One of the notches may have finally stripped out.
AFAIK, they're still available through MAZDA...~$45. You'll have to remove the assembly but the rest is pretty self-evident if you pay attention.
