93 BB Base Half-Bridge GT42R Project PART 2
Phil,
I don't think I ever said it was crap parts that caused the issue. I said that your oil may be too thin and may have caused spun bearing and oil pressure drop. 10W-30 was too thin in my opinion for even a stock rx7.
I remembered back in the day when one of my team member was running 0W-30 oil in his race car and spun his bearing after 10 pulls on the dyno.
As long as you use 20W-50, you shouldn't have issues with it.

There have been other cars there with the SAME problem and they were fixed by using heavy oil. When the car was first on the dyno the oil pressure was fine. When the oil warmed up, thats when the problem occured. I was just a pain in the *** that oil kept me from boosting even higher. I think my numbers are pretty good though.
What should I do about this wastegate problem?
Also does anyone know what the length and width of a 38mm tial is when compared to the old 35mm tial. If they are very similiar I will need to order 2 38mm to replace my 35mm tials because of this major boost creep issue.

Nice video, Phil. That song brings back memories, I was hazed the worst when pledging my fraternity with the original version on that music in the background
nice diff.
Wish there was a kit for FC's... I may have to swap all of my Go-fast stuff in to the FD if I keep breaking ****.
As far as oil goes... I have run 20w50 in my car since day one, it's what the owners manaul recommends for FC's, and FD's are really no different!

Impressive numbers and a sweet video. It's great to see two generations of RX-7's sharing the same garage. Where did you have it tuned? Also, do you have any info on that IMSA-lookalike FB that's sitting in the back? It's the white one with the widebody kit on it.

I wish my ACT 6 puck knew it was indestructible... would have probably saved me over a grand worth of parts and labor....

Can you post the dyno sheet please, am very interested in seeing that.
I am looking at a full bridge on 3mm PTS seals with a GT42R that i want to run on the track.I am wondering what sort of power it will make at around 20psi and will it be a good track car setup. Will the power come in early enough or will it have too much lag. What will the powerband be like, etc, etc
Thanks.

Ok thanks for that
Need to find out if this full bridge with GT42R would be a good track set up.
Any comments welcome.
Hey Phil, probably a lil random but its your threa so i thought id post. Well, im a Auto Tech major at SIU down in carbondale,IL and i get a lot of interest because of the FD.
